Relief for Drivers with Expired Licenses in Punjab
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced relief for drivers with expired licenses. The increased penalty for licenses that expired before January 16, 2024, is now removed. This means people can renew their licenses at the old fee rates.
However, it is important to note that the new fee structure will be imposed on licenses that expire on or after January 16, 2024. These drivers will have to pay the new fee rates. Earlier, the fine for a lapsed license ranged from 75 to 500 rupees per year.
Online Renewal of Driving Licenses
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Ammara Athar also announced that citizens can now renew their regular or international licenses online or at licensing offices, depending on their preference. She further emphasized that there will be no leniency for underage or unlicensed drivers.
