Final Thoughts

There’s been no public justification or announcement from Excise & Taxation Punjab for this increase in vehicle ownership transfer fee in Punjab. It seems that there’s no official press release, just a quiet update that slipped into effect. But it’s so difficult to guess why. With inflation still biting, the provincial government seems to be looking for ways to bring in more revenue. Some also suggest it might be linked to digital upgrades in the excise system. Fair enough, but for the average person, that’s just another added cost.

So, if you’re selling a car, or buying one from someone, or even just transferring a vehicle within your family, don’t be caught off guard. The fee isn’t what it used to be.
