How To Check And Pay E-Challan Online: Step-by-Step Guide
Many of you have heard about e-challan but don’t know what it is, how to check if e-challan has been issued to you, and how to pay e-challan online if you have been issued. These questions are on the minds of many after the recent crackdown on e-challan defaulters in Lahore. Especially after seeing the motorcycle owner being fined Rs. 154,000 in the form of e-challans, and most likely he didn’t even know it until it was seized.
To avoid these situations, I have brought you a detailed guide on how to check e-challan online in Punjab, how to pay e-challan online, and also traffic challan lists or shipping challan rules in Pakistan.
Before we see the e-challan checking process, let’s know what it is and how it is generated.
What is E-Challan & How is It Generated?
In big cities like Lahore, traffic violations are detected by an automatic electronic system consisting of traffic signal cameras. In case of violation, this system captures the image of the vehicle (especially the number plate) and sends the data to the Traffic Management Center of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority.
An e-challan, also known as an e-ticket or Punjab Safe City e-challan, is generated after verification (automatic or manual) of the violation, date, time, and place. It is sent to the owner of the vehicle by mail (a mobile number plate notification may also be issued).
It is important to note that traffic offenses can lead to action under the Provincial Motor Vehicle Regulations 1965. Repeated violations and failure to pay fines can also result in your vehicle being impounded by the traffic police.
