Green Meter Banned

This can be worrying for those who have already installed a solar panel system or are considering getting one. For more details on the issue of green meters, keep on reading!

Green Meter to Shift to AMI Meter

There is no need for the government to ban green meters. The announcement by Sarwar Mughal (LESCO Customer Service) left many confused. Apart from implementing the ban, LESCO announced that green meters will be replaced by Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters.

According to various media reports, LESCO will issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to green meter customers so that they can install AMI meters. Based on the NOC, the consumer has to purchase and install a new AMI meter from the market.

In addition, replacing the green meter with an AMI meter will cost consumers an additional Rs. 20,000. Unfortunately, this order must be followed. So, the total amount of Rs. 20,000 will have to be paid by the solar panel consumers already owning a green meter.

Final Verdict

In conclusion, this decision by the government will not suit most consumers of solar panels because of the additional costs that have to be paid. Thus, the financial burden associated with moving from green meters to AMI meters may be unwelcome among people exposed to inflation.
